What IRCC accepts
On a super visa application, host status proof is the document showing that the family member inviting you is legally settled in Canada. IRCC requires that “You must provide proof that your host is one of the following:” — a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or a registered Indian — each with its own accepted document.
For a citizen, you “Provide a copy of Canadian citizenship for your host (and their spouse or common-law partner if applicable).” For a permanent resident, you “Provide a copy of a permanent resident document for your host (and their spouse or common-law partner, if applicable).”
The clause families miss
The piece families miss is the “spouse or common-law partner” clause: where a spouse co-signs the letter of invitation, that spouse’s status document has to come in alongside the host’s.
